What Is Labiaplasty?

It is most commonly a procedure to reduce the appearance of the labia minora, the inner folds of skin that lead directly to the vaginal opening. The labia majora, the outer folds of skin, can also be modified during the procedure. During the procedure, the plastic surgeon carefully removes excessive tissue, fat, and skin. This is done to create the desired labia appearance. The size of the labia is often reduced and issues with asymmetry can be corrected as well. 

What Is the Trim Technique?

The technique that your surgeon uses for your procedure will depend on your unique anatomy and concerns. One of the techniques that is available for labiaplasty is the trim technique.

The trim technique is the most common technique used to perform labiaplasty. The trim technique involves creating an incision along the outer edge of the labia minora to remove excess tissue.
